Prof. Datuk Dr. Kassim Hj Mansur 

Seventh Vice Chancellor of UMS (October 2022 – To Date) 

Prof Datuk Dr. Kassim Hj Mansur was born on May 26, 1961, Kg Rampayan Menggatal, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. He received his early education at Sk Rampayan Menggatal, Inanam in 1965-70. He got his secondary education at Sabah College, Kota Kinabalu Sabah from 1971-1977 and passed LCE dan MCE (Malaysia Certificate of Education).  He Continued his studies in STPM at Smk Menggatal Kota Kinabalu Sabah from 1978-1979.  After that, he continued his studies at Indiana State University, Terra Haute, Indiana, USA until he graduated with a (BSc) Buss. Admin. He obtained his (MSc) Economics from Indiana State University, Terra Haute, Indiana USA while his (Ph.D) Economics was obtained from University Of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, USA.  

A Business Administration degree graduate, he also has a master’s degree in economics from Indiana State University, Terre Haute, the United States and a Doctoral degree in the same field from the University of Wisconsin. Kasim served as the deputy vice-chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs) of UMS for five years from 2009 to 2014. In a statement, the Higher Education Ministry said Kasim was a highly regarded academic figure among the university's officers and students. "At the Sabah state level, he contributed significantly to Sabahans as a member of the Sabah Economic Advisory Council and a board member of the Institute for Development Studies, Sabah. Based on the reputation of the leadership of the institution, Kasim, the statement said can form a harmonious network of working relationships with all stakeholders, especially in Sabah. "The ministry is confident that he will lead UMS in becoming one of the preferred universities at the national level, thus promoting overall academic excellence." 

Throughout his career, as an academic, he has been involved in various activities and programmes. Here are the activities he has been involved in UMS Representative to Malaysia APEC Study Center, 13 July 2001, Public lecture at Petro-Chemical Institute Beijing, April 2012. Throughout his career, he has received several awards.
