Professor Datuk Dr. D Kamarudin D Mudin 

Fifth Vice Chancellor of UMS (June 2017 – June 2019)  

Professor Datuk Dr. D Kamarudin D Mudin was born on 13th October 1968 at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. He received his early education Sekolah Menengah Bantuan Penuh Kerajaan. He graduated with BSc (Hons) of Medical Science from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1989 and MSc Medical (Anaesthesiology) also from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2001. 

Professor Datuk Dr. D Kamarudin D Mudin started his career in the Ministry of Health at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 1992. He joined Universiti Malaysia Sabah as a lecturer in Medical School (SPU) in 2004. Professor Datuk Dr. D Kamarudin D Mudin is Professor Special Grade A in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science specialising in Anaesthesiology. He is also the first Sabah-born anaesthetist.  He was appointed as the Dean for Medicine and Health Science Faculty from 2011 to 14 March 2015 before being appointed as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs) on 15 March 2015.   

As a recognition of his services and contributions to education in UMS throughout his tenure, he was honored this award:  

  • Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (P.G.D.K.) in 2017 

Professor Datuk Dr. D Kamarudin D Mudin was appointed as the fifth Vice Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Sabah in June 2017. He served and led the university until June 2019. Among the important matters he highlighted during his tenure was the university’s development in accordance with latest technology; Industrial Revolution 4.0.
